Shafer the Dog needs a home
My name is Shafer, I am a 7 month old adorable little Black Lab mixed with who knows what. lolo... I had a really hard start in life and was a stray on the streets of South Texas near the border. I was starving and had a broken hip maybe a car hit me but not sure. My memory is fuzzy about that. Then I was taken to a huge high kill holding facility with all of the other hundreds of dogs and boy is it loud and scary in that place. One day this rescue came and took me out of there and I was on a long road trip to Fort Worth where my new life began.
I went to the doggie doctor and they said I needed surgery to repair my broken hip so I had that done and all of my other needed vetting so now I am settling in my foster home and boy is it nice here. I am so grateful and truly love everyone even though I had a rough start. I am learning and mastering potty training and crate training. I love to snuggle on my doggie bed and my sweet foster mom does these fun exercises with my back legs to help me gain strength. The vet says the good news is that I won't get hip dysplasia in that side or arthritis. I am gaining strength and weight now that I am so loved here.
I am ready to begin my search for a family that will love me and understand that I am not a perfect purebred puppy but one that has a heart of gold and will be loyal to my imperfect family. :)
